Roatan update
From Henry & Frances
Living Water 4 Roatan

DAY IN HONDURAS FOR TWO MISSIONARIES

This is a day of events that happens in Honduras (9/9/09).

A 65,0000 gallon water tank is in the building process on top of a mountain in the Colonia where people live in shanty houses.

This day received a call they needed water to be hauled up to almost the top, a vehicle cannot make it to the top. But one can make it almost with a lot of prayer and being very careful. You must have a 4 wheel drive vehicle which LW4R now has.

7;00 AM in the morning waiting for the large barrels to be loaded onto back of truck, then they turn on water to fill up barrels. We then take off going up a VERY LARGE HILL, and the road is extremenly narrow, one mistake and you will be on your way to Heaven.. The only way down is to back up a very long way. Also part of the road has been washed away making that portion of the driving more difficult. We made it, 4 trips up and down. Frances was home praying and the results is that HE was listening. THANK YOU  JESUS.

We then received a call from Jourgin, his family needed water, so go to his house which is up a large hill and load up a 200 gallon water tank on back of truck. we then go to our home where we load the tank  up with water. We then travel  up the steep hill praying that the water  tank will not flip over (did accomplsh that one time only) then at top we back up truck as far as it will go. Then hook up a water line from the large tank on truck where water will go down a steep hill, then a pump is at bottom and then it pumps the water to the top of hill where he has two large water tanks. We will  usually  make two  of those trips, then the last one we  provide his neighbors with water. The neat part of it as the water is draining Jourgin and I will visit eeach other talking about what JESUS is up too. THANK YOU JESUS!

Then Enriky calls and he needs water. We fill up his barrels and take them a few miles down the road and will bucket out the water into other buckets. We also have some great talks about JESUS!

We are in the best position of our life, the reason we can see JESUS much more than we ever have.

Thank you Jesus that you are allowing Frances and I to be a part of something in our life we have taken for granted to be a blessing to families here in Roatan.

one day events

It has been way to  long  since i have updated this blog, so  please do  not yell  at me.

Our goal is still to meet the physical needs for the  people living in the COlonia and the spiritual needs.

We have some great plans coming at the end of this month  {September 26th} as we will be going to Arizona, Colorado, and Texas. We will be sharing at 1st Baptist Show Low Arizona, then on Monday going to Northern Arizona University  to talk  about a sewer system. Ron McDonald was responsible for providing financial aid to a few engineers from NAU to come to Roatan Honduras and complete a study on a sewer system for the Colonia. They have completed their study and made there recommendation, resulting in the Colonia being considered for a sewer system. The people at the university have invited Frances and I to come out with Ron McDonald. We also we have Dr. Patrick a emergency room physician out of Phoenix Arizona who  works a portion of the year in Roatan providing medical help to the people living in the Colonia attending the meeting. Also Trey Vick from  Houston Texas will be attending. He and his family visited Roatan  Honduras for 5 weeks and God appears to be messing with them about returning.

So please be praying about this visit.

We then go to Durango Colorado to visit with LW4R new family that will be coming  to Roatan to help with LW4R. The Tichi family church will be holding a mission fair the week we will be visiting with them. We will have the opportunity to share at their church. Also be visiting with friends and sharing with them about LW4R. Please be praying for the Tichi family, Mike, Kerry, Luke, Lillie, Levy Tichi.

We will  then be stopping off in  Houston Texas to visit with Trey, Connie, Lanie,  Parker, Wiley, Anna Vick. The Vick family came over to Roatan Honduras for a 5 week vacation and spent a lot of time ministering. They were up in the Colonia helping with teams that came over from the states. Their daughter, Anna, was making friends in the Colonia and wanting people to meet her new friends. What a precious little girl she is demonstrating Gods love in a very  poor section of Roatan.

Please pray for Honduras, the economy is bad every where and the political issues here in Honduras have increased pressure on poor people that are just making it by. The US just placed more sanctions here thus increasing the needs to the  poor in Honduras.

Please pray for LW4R and the direction for ministering to the people living in very poor condition.

We love you...Henry and Frances Zittrower

sinner welcome

WOW! Received a very good lesson from my wife. We have this lady that has many problems and will come around our home. This lady will show up at our home every so often. This particular day I was leaving our home following lunch and their she was standing outside the door. I made efforts to try and get her off our property.

I returned home following my meeting to meet my wife with her asking me to not ever refuse to allow this lady to come into our home.

Frances invited her in, fed her our left overs from lunch and had a very good conversation about the American food she was eating.
She was building a relationship with this  lady.

You see I saw a problem, Frances saw an opportunity to show the love of JESUS.

As I write this I want you to know that I am one  blessed man to have a GODLY wife. She sees things so different than I do and as I take a moment to reminisce on what I missed and what she saw it encourages me to see how God has blessed me with a woman that simply puts into action where He said, "the greatest of all  is LOVE!

Thank you Jesus for calling Frances and I to your field of harvest.

rich lady in need

Yesterday (6/3/09) we received a call from a good friend of ours on the island to take him, his wife, Pastor and friend from thier church to pray with a lady. This lady is very wealthy, over one year ago her husband commited suicide. She has not been able to sleep well, asking a  lady who once kept her children to come and pray wiht her.

As we were going to  pick everyone up I was reminded of Ephesians 3:8 To me "who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ. These wonderful going to pray has very few earthly things. But such a great lesson as I heard they wanted to share with this  lady, "the unsearchable riches of  Christ."

We drove down a very well manicured road finding our way to a fenced in area with a large gate, Behind the gate was the ladies yard man keeping up with a beautiful yard, he pushed his remote and allowed us to enter. WOW! When we came to the door you knew you had come to a very expensive home. And then we met the maid and walked into a home worth well into the millions of dollars.

This was a wonderful experience as I stood with a group of people who have very little and live off of a very small budget standing in this beautiful home where this lady requested help from these people that they could provide. These people were blessed with riches this lady desperately needed.

This situation reminded me of Ecclesiastes 5:10 He who  loves silver will not be sitisfied with silver; Nor he who loves abundance, with increase. This is also vanity.        This lady had more than she could have ever needed from worldly things, but ask for people to come and pray.

Please join us in praying for Janet and her 3 children.

jasper hit by car

Today we would never expected to receive the call that we received. We had our plans for today and then things changed so quickly.

Frances is very good friends with Ismeraldo a single mom with two kids. She lives and works at the Mission Inn Hotel, her job begins at around 4:00 AM each morning. She comes to visit Frances often especially when she is hurting and having problems. A couple of nights in past around 9:00 Pm she knocks at the door and shares many challenges with Frances. SO they are very close.

In front of the hotel is the paved road that takes you to each side end of the island. This particular place is very bad for cars to come speeding.

This morning (5/22/09) Ismeraldo and Chuck are working in the kitchen received a message from someone outside that a kid had been hit by a taxi van. Chuck immediately dialed the phone  for emergency and handed it to Ismeraldo to talk because Chuck speaks  limited Spanish. This was happening as they were walking outside, then the horrible thing that faced Ismeraldo, it was her son. He had been hit at the very front of the vehicle. They immediately picked up Jasper and rushed him to the local Hospital.

We did not hear then news for a couple of hours, then Frances and I headed to the Hospital. We arrived to find Chuck and Bob outside and heard the beginning good news. His head required stitches, he was talking and all x rays came back ok. The Hospital is very poorly equipped with limited resources. I was standing in the courtyard looking at old rusted A.C. window frames, old rusted beds, looked like a junk yard. This was outside the emergency room. Also the surgical room has large drums that holds water. So you get the picture, not a place you want to find yourselves with an emergency. They would be keeping Jasper for several hours for observation.

As we talked about Jasper, their is no doubt that God had a Angel watching  over him because  of how fast the taxi was going and some how he was hit in the front and did not role under the wheel of the taxi.

THANK YOU JESUS FOR SHOWING US WE CAN DEPEND ON YOU...THANK YOU FOR TAKING CARE OF JASPER, YOU ARE SO WONDERFUL WE ARE SO BLESSED BY WHO YOU ARE...WE LOVE YOU JESUS. THANK YOU FOR HOW YOU WILL USE THIS FOR ISMERALDO AND TEX THE BOYS FATHER.

Hurting

Yesterday (5/15/09) received a call from an Islander to come by and pick his family up to take them to the Colonia to visit a sick lady. Then we would go to the open air church in the Colonia.

Jourgin and his family is involved in the ministry of LW4R. We arrived in the Colonia and began our  walk through many shanty houses. We then walked into this very small wood frame house with two rooms. As we moved back the curtain and enter the room we saw a very tiny woman laying under a sheet. She probably weighed 50 pounds. She was conscious, rolling side to side under the sheet in obvious pain. I stood at the doorway asking Jesus to please remove the pain. It was so awful to stand and witness the pain. The quick reminder was if this lady was in the states she would be hooked up to a machine that would produce a pain reliever. But we are in a third world country and their in front of me was a lady in terrible pain. The wood window was open and this night a breeze was blowing through the open window.

I know Ms Odina, met her over one year in the past when she worked for the Sonrise Inn preparing the coffee beans for Pastor Chuck. They ask for me  to speak to her. I sat on the end of the bed and asked Ms. Odina if she remembered me and she moved her head confirming she knew me. I shared with her about Gods word and at the same time feeling so inadequate. But knowing His word will not return void. I then held her hand asking God for HIS mercy on her life.

Next to her bed is a Coffin where she will be laid to rest. I was shocked by the Coffin and so was Jourgin the islander  who said that was not a tradition.

Following the visit I had the opportunity to attend an open air church in the Colonia and witness the people praising God through singing and preaching. So neat as I had my eye on this one man that very evident he loves Jesus as he was singing and clapping his hand in rhythm which i cannot  do. Then looked into his  pocket to see a flashlight. This told me he had walked to church and prepared for his  walk  back home needing a flashlight. HE REALLY WANTED TO  COME AND WORSHIP THE KING OF KING!

Please pray for MS.Odina!

baptism

This  week has been a great week for rchcurch (name of church) as we had Abner come last Sunday then attended Wednesday night service. He shared his heart and several people listened and share scriptures. The pastor met with him during the  week and he wanted to follow Jesus in Baptism. He was Baptised in the  beautiful ocean where many tourist hang out. WOW! Go GOD.
Please bow and pray for Abner...

Colonia boys at dump

Today April 27th almost missed what Jesus wanted me to witness. I had a full day of work planned. On the way to Coxen Hole these two very young boys were waiting on the paved road by the entrance to the  Colonia for a ride to the dump.

Frances mention that we had some gifts to give out and suggested the dump as a place to give away the gifts. Once we returned from Coxen Hole we loaded the truck with the gifts and headed  to the dump. Upon arriving at the dump people will begin coming up to your vehicle to see what you are giving away. These young men that I did not remember from this morning picking them up and taking to the dump was at the dump placing the things they had retrieved in a pile to take back to the Colonia which is  about 3 miles. We gave out the gifts and headed into town and returned to see these two very young boys waiting on the road for a ride back to the Colonia. It was neat as we asked them where they wanted to be dropped off and they mention the water tank in the Colonia. Jesus says very simply, Matthew 25:40,  I say to you, In as much as you have done it to one of the least of these my brothers, you have done it to me. ... THANK YOU JESUS THAT I DID NOT  GET TO  BUSY TO SEE YOU IN A WONDERFUL WAY THROUGH THESE WONDERFUL TWO BOYS....These boys will soon have a community center to go to and be boys....Keep praying for the community center and land to be purchased...

longer stay

What happened? We left Jacksonville, Florida on April 18th for the place where Milk and Honey flow.

Upon leaving Jacksonville, Fl. we arrived at our destination in Houston Texas 7 hours later finding the only flight to Roatan had left. Our travel to Roatan Honduras was interrupted because they had to close down Houston airport due to bad weather. When we came into the Houston Airport they were chaos, people everywhere. My thoughts begin wondering is this what the wilderness is going to be like until Wednesday? Frances immediately continues telling me that this did not take God by surprised, but MY actions were telling me this caught me by surprised.

We were now in the Houston Airport standing in a long line waiting to find out the next flight to Roatan. We finally arrived at the desk and the lady was very patience trying for 45 minutes to find us a flight, the only one out would be 4 days later. And thought about the country gospel, when HE was 4 days late He was right on time came to my mind. This is referring to when Jesus did not arrive to keep Lazarus alive He was too late and he had died. But just like Jesus Lazarus could be brought back to life. POOR HENRY WAS THINKING GOD WAS LATE FOR US TO ARRIVE IN ROATAN!

We then go to Baggage Department to retrieve our luggage finding another long line. They fill out our luggage request to retrieve our clothes so that we can have clothes to change into. It is now 12:30 AM which is 1:30 AM the time zone we left. They tell us we must leave because the people retrieving the luggage were going home and they had a very large amount of luggage to locate. They provided amenities and a Hotel voucher for $69.00. We find out that the Hotel transportation from the airport stops at midnight. I called to begin my plea with the Hotel staff to find that in section C they have one last shuttle leaving. We were in section A, they told us to downstairs to find the Trams which will take us to section C. We arrived downstairs to find the Trams stops at midnight. So we have only 15 minutes to catch the last shuttle. We begin our .4 tenth mile walk and made it as the shuttle arrives at airport.

Our day of traveling we had only eaten one meal (Cereal), which we believe was in God’s plan because our food consummation since our arrival in the states on March 12th  had been way to much. So the next morning we go to the Hotel Restaurant to find the breakfast prices was way out of our price range. Also the Hotel is located with no Restaurant in walking distance. We decided to eat the all you can eat so that we would not eat again until dinner.

We then found someone to take us to the airport to find out our luggage was in Roatan Honduras. We ask them to take us to Wal-Mart to purchase a few necessary clothes that would last us until our flight home. We also picked up some food items that would keep us until we arrived home.

We return to find that the Hotel cannot guarantee us the discount price for the complete stay. The Hotel staff person tells us she will contact her supervisor to inform us the new price. Last night (Sunday  night) I get up during the night to see the message light on and begin thinking this message light  will  inform us the hotel  cost will go up to the higher $100’s. The next morning I called to find out I wasted a lot of thinking keeping me from sleeping, the message (” the Hotel Manager says you guys can stay for the same price).

I am reminded about Philippians 4:6,7 BE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING, BUT IN EVERYTHING BY PRAYER AND SUPPLICATION, WITH THANKSGIVING, LET YOUR REQUEST BE MADE KNOWN TO GOD; (7) AND THE PEACE OF GOD, WHICH SURPASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING, WILL GUARD YOUR HEARTS AND MINDS THROUGH CHRIST JESUS.

I am learning that this verse applies to me and God continues with His teaching patience through this experience reminding me of this wonderful verse in how easy it is for me to get anxious.

I have seen some wonderful things He has taught me through this experience and continuing looking for other things God is trying to teach me through this experience.

UPON YOUR READING THIS EMAIL PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR THOUGHTS REGARDING WHAT YOU SEE IN THIS EXPERIENCE.

Please continue praying for Living Water 4 Roatan and His direction.

We love you guys…Henry and Frances Zittrower
